This week from the Message Bible John 4:46-54

^46-48Now he was back in Cana of Galilee, the place where he made the water into wine. Meanwhile in Capernaum, there was a certain official from the king’s court whose son was sick. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and asked that he come down and heal his son, who was on the brink of death. Jesus put him off: “Unless you people are dazzled by a miracle, you refuse to believe.”

 ⁴⁹But the court official wouldn’t be put off. “Come down! It’s life or death for my son.”

 ^50-51Jesus simply replied, “Go home. Your son lives.”

   The man believed the bare word Jesus spoke and headed home. On his way back, his servants intercepted him and announced, “Your son lives!”

 ^52-53He asked them what time he began to get better. They said, “The fever broke yesterday afternoon at one o’clock.” The father knew that that was the very moment Jesus had said, “Your son lives.”

 ^53-54That clinched it. Not only he but his entire household believed. This was now the second sign Jesus gave after having come from Judea into Galilee.

Genesis Chapter 2 (Message Bible)

 ¹ Heaven and Earth were finished, down to the last detail.

 ^2-4 By the seventh day
      God had finished his work.
   On the seventh day
      he rested from all his work.
   God blessed the seventh day.
      He made it a Holy Day
   Because on that day he rested from his work,
      all the creating God had done.

   This is the story of how it all started,
      of Heaven and Earth when they were created.

Adam and Eve

^5-7 At the time God made Earth and Heaven, before any grasses or shrubs had sprouted from the ground-God hadn’t yet sent rain on Earth, nor was there anyone around to work the ground (the whole Earth was watered by underground springs)-God formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man came alive-a living soul!

 ^8-9 Then God planted a garden in Eden, in the east. He put the Man he had just made in it. God made all kinds of trees grow from the ground, trees beautiful to look at and good to eat. The Tree-of-Life was in the middle of the garden, also the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil.

  ¹⁵ God took the Man and set him down in the Garden of Eden to work the ground and keep it in order.

 ^16-17 God commanded the Man, “You can eat from any tree in the garden, except from the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil. Don’t eat from it. The moment you eat from that tree, you’re dead.”

 ^18-20 God said, “It’s not good for the Man to be alone; I’ll make him a helper, a companion.” So God formed from the dirt of the ground all the animals of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the Man to see what he would name them. Whatever the Man called each living creature, that was its name. The Man named the cattle, named the birds of the air, named the wild animals; but he didn’t find a suitable companion.

 ^21-22 God put the Man into a deep sleep. As he slept he removed one of his ribs and replaced it with flesh. God then used the rib that he had taken from the Man to make Woman and presented her to the Man.

    ^23-25 The Man said,
   “Finally! Bone of my bone,
      flesh of my flesh!
   Name her Woman
      for she was made from Man.”
      Therefore a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh.
      The two of them, the Man and his Wife, were naked, but they felt no shame.

Amy and Catherine join us for Rick’s house and talk about Easter Sunrise Service on the beach at Westport Washington.  Amy, Catherine and Nathan joined Connection Church for a great heartwarming message on the beach by Pastor Korista.  That’s Catherine’s youth pastor.  Her message was great.  I slept in and went to church at 11.

Here is Nathan and Preston on the Westport Beach at 6 am on Easter Sunday.

Humming Pigs– 
We talk about the nine hummingbirds that are eating up the sugar water we put out for them.    Recipe-  2 cups of sugar, two cups of hot water, stir together and let cool, fill your feeder and watch them fight over the food!

Food for Thought

Here we are June 21st 1986Amy joins me for fun stories about our engagement and how I asked for her hand in marriage.  It was very scary  for me to ask her dad.  Amy recites a poem that her dad read to us.   I also shared how I told Amy that I loved her for the very first time.  October 31^st 1985.  Find out what happened.

We talk about how love is a commitment not necessarily a feeling all the time. 

We talk about how God picks opposites for each other. 

Then we say a quick prayer for single and married folks. 

I end the show with a cool song that I recorded years ago called “Soon” by The Church

He Is Your Life

^1-2 So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.

^3-4Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.

What a nice time I got to have tonight. Darrell Mansfield had a concert only 30 some miles from my house, so I was able to go and visit with him.

Darrell led me to the Lord over 24 years ago. My life was totally changed through him serving God. You can listen to how it changed my life by clicking here.

Anyway, the show was great and it was just wonderful to be able to thank him for his influence in my life. It was also really nice to see some of my good friends from over the years. These are guys that I serve the Lord with off and on over the years in bands, ministries and just have enjoyed their friendship.

Here is my friend Joe with his kids. Joe, you rock! He is a great guitar player!

You can download them on your ipod touch or iphone.  Go to the APPS part and search for Star Trek Countdown.  They have all four issues for only 99 cents each.  That rocks.

I got a great deal at the Star Wars Store in Aberdeen WA.  I found a vintage 1970’s Battlestar Galactica 33 1/3 LP and a Six Million Dollar Man Record and Comic book.  COOL!  What a cool find.  No, I don’t own a turntable–  but they are still cool.

John 8 (The Message)

To Throw the Stone

 ^1-2 Jesus went across to Mount Olives, but he was soon back in the Temple again. Swarms of people came to him. He sat down and taught them. ^3-6The religion scholars and Pharisees led in a woman who had been caught in an act of adultery. They stood her in plain sight of everyone and said, “Teacher, this woman was caught red-handed in the act of adultery. Moses, in the Law, gives orders to stone such persons. What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something incriminating so they could bring charges against him.

 ^6-8Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger in the dirt. They kept at him, badgering him. He straightened up and said, “The sinless one among you, go first: Throw the stone.” Bending down again, he wrote some more in the dirt.

 ^9-10Hearing that, they walked away, one after another, beginning with the oldest. The woman was left alone. Jesus stood up and spoke to her. “Woman, where are they? Does no one condemn you?”

 ¹¹“No one, Master.”

   “Neither do I,” said Jesus. “Go on your way. From now on, don’t sin.”
