KINGS ON NBC SUNDAY NIGHTS

Nathan talks to me about his character on The Lord Of The Rings online game.
lotrov2march41march5

Then I talk about the Series Finale of Battlestar Galactica

bsg-centurion-1001

I play a song I wrote and recorded as tribute to the Battlestar Galactica made in the 70’s
you can download it and put it on your ipod or computer by clicking here: Rag Tag Fugitve Fleet

Rag Tag Fugitve Fleet
by Rick Moyer

When I was just a boy
I heard that ABC
Was serving up some drama
In space that I could see

T’was bout a Battle Star
But not your normal stanza
Starring Loren Green,
Cartwright from Bonanza

So these Shiny metal bots
With a mission like machines
Were killing all the colonists
With a budgets never seen

Every week I’d watch
As the ships would turbo up
And laugh at Boxy’s moffit
The barking robot pup

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

Those nasty little Cylons
Spouting by your command
Were killing all the humans
And taking all their land

They blew up all the Battle stars
With out a second thought
Only the Galactica
Would be the one they fought

So they forced the humans out
Into space they had to run
Putting all their ships together
Man that wasn’t fun

The characters all made me smile
Their wit and hero folly
Like Starbuck and Appollo
Cornel Tigh and good ol’ Jolly

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

Adama and Athena,
They were always there
Then Sheeba, and boomer
Cassiopeia  so fare…

The Villians were so cool
With names like Lucifer
Boltar and his minions
And centurions for sure

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

I felt bad for Apollo
When Serena had to die
But later when the Pegasus
Sheeba caught his eye

Count Ebliee made me nervous
With his mental powers strong
But what about those chicks
With mouths that sang that song?

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

I thought it was over
When the bugs they set the tones
And when everyone was partying
They were eating honeycombs.

But our heroes made it out
Giving uniforms to greeters
Saving all their warriors
By faking all the leaders

The coolest part about the show
And they came from near and far
Were  the raiders and the Vipers
Base Stations and Battle Stars

The viper was the coolest
With a talking one to boot
Cora loved on starbuck
As he wore his darkened suit

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

The episodes I really liked
That stand right out for me
were red eye,  pig raiders
Starbucks Dad those three

Then the blowing up of base star
Was one I liked a lot
As they wobbled on their wings
Just so they would not  get shot

Really all the episodes
Were right in with the vibe
Watching every week
For the 13th tribe.

Pyramids and Castles too
Fighting and the mirth
All the while searching for the new
Home they called the EARTH

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

There’s series that came after
Not the one with Katee
The silly episodes
Galactica 1980

It didn’t last so long
Troy and Dillan disappeared
After all it was really funny
To see Adama in a beard.

Then there is the new one
On sci fi that’s for sure
But Starbuck is a woman
And it’s full of gripping fear

The cylons had a makeover
The CGI just rocks
Some of them look human
We learned that in their talks

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

So crack open some mbrosia
And raise your glass real high
Cause Battlestar Galactica
Really caught my eye

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet
Yeah, the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet

WORDS OF WISDOM

This week it’s from Proverbs Chapter 23 (the Message Bible) vs 1-5

1-3 When you go out to dinner with an influential person, mind your manners:
Don’t gobble your food,
don’t talk with your mouth full.
And don’t stuff yourself;
   bridle your appetite.

 4-5 Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich;
   restrain yourself!
Riches disappear in the blink of an eye;
   wealth sprouts wings
and flies off into the wild blue yonder.

Amy and I invite you to join our mailing list and get our Weekly Encouragement Newsletter.  Click here for more info.  We could really use the help, and we are sure you could use the encouragement.

I then play a promo for the award winning webshow Guild podcast called KNIGHTS OF THE GUILD with my good friend and co-host of the Ready Room Podcast Kenny.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

 WORDS OF WISDOM

Matthew 4 (Message Bible)

1-3 Next Jesus was taken into the wild by the Spirit for the Test. The Devil was ready to give it. Jesus prepared for the Test by fasting forty days and forty nights. That left him, of course, in a state of extreme hunger, which the Devil took advantage of in the first test: “Since you are God’s Son, speak the word that will turn these stones into loaves of bread.”

4Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.”

5-6For the second test the Devil took him to the Holy City. He sat him on top of the Temple and said, “Since you are God’s Son, jump.” The Devil goaded him by quoting Psalm 91: “He has placed you in the care of angels. They will catch you so that you won’t so much as stub your toe on a stone.”

7Jesus countered with another citation from Deuteronomy: “Don’t you dare test the Lord your God.”

8-9For the third test, the Devil took him to the peak of a huge mountain. He gestured expansively, pointing out all the earth’s kingdoms, how glorious they all were. Then he said, “They’re yours-lock, stock, and barrel. Just go down on your knees and worship me, and they’re yours.”

10Jesus’ refusal was curt: “Beat it, Satan!” He backed his rebuke with a third quotation from Deuteronomy: “Worship the Lord your God, and only him. Serve him with absolute single-heartedness.”

11The Test was over. The Devil left. And in his place, angels! Angels came and took care of Jesus’ needs.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I talk about the meaning of life.  What is it all about?

I talked about Data and his daughter.
tng164

I believe that we are on this Earth to accomplish something.  God created us unique and special.

I talk about how my life changed after I gave my heart to Jesus.

I went back up to another Darrell Mansfield concert.

darrellmansfield-2
Darrell is in concert  in Raymond WA in the theater at 7pm April 9th.  Free!

I met my wife.  Next week Amy is on the program!  WOO HOO!

I believe that every one of us is made to go down a certain path.  We hare happiest when we follow after what God created us to do.

What are we gifted at?  What is our niche?

Deeper than a career, what were you made to do?

It takes money to live, but we miss it sometimes when we concentrate on it.

People are more important than riches and wealth.

The water boy never goes thirsty because he is close to the source.

I went to a 2nd concert with Darrell Mansfield.

I experience a “call” on my life.

Many times we are empty because we don’t position ourselves under the place that would fill us up.

I got a fire and burning for life like I had never had before.  God got my number.

So here is what I think is important to do:

  • 1. Pray and ask God for our purpose.
  • 2. Make a list of what we love.
  • 3. Dare to dream.
  • 4. Make a difference one life at a time.

I wrote a song along with Mike Pirianian  called “It isn’t over”  So here are the lyrics.  We recorded this special version of the song in Kurdt Vanderhoof’s studio.  I did the vocals, Mike and Don Stone played guitar, I think. J

It isn’t over
by Rick Moyer & Mike Pirianian

As I thumbed through the paper last night my eyes welled up with tears.
A lady had died, my Lord, I knew this lady for years
she comforted me when a friend had died from an accident on the bay
I still recall the words she spoke and I can quote them to you today.

She said:
It  isn’t over when you die it goes on forever you know
all that matters if you knew the Lord and who you lived your life for.

I realized only to late, as I gazed at the printed page
life takes on new meaning when on Earth you have numbered days
But what she said it echoed through my head and through my heart
she said Rick, don’t you know that we’re here, only here in part

It isn’t over when you die it goes on forever you know
all that matters if you knew the Lord and who you lived your life for.

How many times do we speak his name to hear silence in our ears,
perhaps we should humble ourselves and seek him through the years
cause when this life is over my friend we are far from done
eternal life awaits for us in Jesus Christ, Jesus the son

It  isn’t over when you die it goes on forever you know
all that matters if you knew the Lord and who you lived your life for.

WORDS OF WISDOM

The words of wisdom this episode come from the book of Romans Chapter 12

3 Because of the privilege and authority[c] God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.[d] 4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them.

I talk about the new weekly newsletter that Amy and I putting out.  Would you sign up for it?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Using and Abusing.

We talk about the difference between believing, and believing.

Sometimes we can learn relationship styles from the folks we hang around.

I can stoop to low levels to get what I want, but it doesn’t help the people around me.

We should treat people with respect and love.

People shouldn’t be used or abused.

Sometimes good people are taken advantage of because of their loyalty and need to be needed.

Our self image should come from God, not comparing ourselves to each other.

We shouldn’t just tolerate people, we should celebrate them.

Narcissist means selfish.  Like the Wraith from Stargate Atlantis.

steve_the_wraith_stargate
They fed on the energy and the life of others to survive.  Much like people who use and abuse us.

Some people never grow up emotionally and tend to treat others badly.

Hurt people, hurt people.

When we treat people like objects we are violating them.  It is so important to treat people with respect, without getting walked on.

Remember the bully on the playground?

Many times they don’t grow up either.

Here is a good website on bullies and how they grow up into the world we live in.

The bully institute

1.  God gave us a free will, he won’t make us be nice, we have to choose that.

2.  We were never intended for abuse.  God created us to be used by Him, not others.

3.  God can give us strength if we ask Him for it.

Let’s not use and abuse people.  Give some folks some grace.  Are there people in my life that are abusing me?  Perhaps I should change some of my friends.

Show me your friends and I’ll tell you what you think about yourself.

Here is a song I wrote called “Everything but you”

Here are the lyrics:

Everything but you

by Rick Moyer

Hurting deep inside of me
the loneliness it screams
another time and place of night
disillusioned of my dreams

Here I am again it’s down to just us two
stripped of all that is familiar
I’ve lost everything but you
Everything but you

What could have been is not
The story didn’t play
When mans intervention ruins
the form made from the clay

Here I am again it’s down to just us two
stripped of all that is familiar
I’ve lost everything but you
Everything but you

I guess it’s not the worst it could be
my choice it makes my place
I either go down in bitterness
or embrace your loving grace

Here I am again it’s down to just us two
stripped of all that is familiar
I’ve lost everything but you
Everything but you

Father please forgive them
for they know not what they do
tearing up inside of me
makes me open up to you

Here I am again it’s down to just us two
stripped of all that is familiar
I’ve lost everything but you
Everything but you
You, You, You
Everything but you.

You can download the song here

Words of Wisdom this week from 1st  Peter 4:7-21 (message)

7-11Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything—encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!

Glory Just Around the Corner

12-13Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.

Then a quick promo for Jen and Angela’s way cool podcast THE ANOMALY  click here and check it out.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
We’re not gonna take it!

I talk about the ride home from the concert that changed my life.  The kids asked me to turn off the stereo and talk about what had happened.  So I talk about that.

They asked questions like:
Who created God?
Why is there suffering in the world?
How do we know the Bible is true?

Do you want me to cover some of those questions on Take Him With You?  email me and let me know rick@takehimwithyou.com

So we talked about what should we do now?  After actually giving our heart over to God.  Where do we go from here?

1.  Read the Bible- don’t check your brains at the door just read it for yourself.  It’s not all boring.  There is a lot of cool things in it.  Give it a shot.  I recommend starting in the book of John in the New Testament.

Cool places to read the Bible online:
http://www.biblegateway.com
http://www.crosswalk.com
http://www.newlivingtranslation.com

2.  Talk to God-  sharing our heart with God is really important.
3.  Hang out with folks that want to know God more too.
4.  Share about God.
I talk about a guy I ran into on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, he had a big white cross.
bourbonstcross

I wrap up talking about how God got my attention.

Email me any questions you have.  I am challenging folks to read the gospel of John.  It’s so cool when you read it for yourself.

Then I play a song that I helped write called “Dear Lord”
Here are the lyrics–
Dear Lord by Rick Moyer, Don Stone, Mike Pirianian and Kenny Miller

(whisper)Dear Lord

Well they say the fields are ready, and the harvest is it hand
and I say Lord, well I’m only just one man
You’ve given me a purpose since I have first believed
My heart’s been changed inside and new one been conceived.

Dear Lord, I pray, Dear Lord I say, I’ll always love you

So my prayer it echoes loudly in the chambers of my soul
pressing forward always to the high calling of  your goal
To serve you is an honor, yes the fight it must go on
As long as Satan’s boasting I’ll sing to you this song

Dear Lord, I pray, Dear Lord I say, I’ll always love you

Some people try to sway me but they’ve never really walked
Serving you is more than theology and talk
So from the day I made you Lord till the day I die
Out of the depths of who I am you’ll always here me cry

Dear Lord, I pray, Dear Lord I say, I’ll always love you
******************************

After the song is done I play a promo for Kenny and Jenny’s Knights of the Guild Podcast http://knightsoftheguild.podbean.com

WORDS OF WISDOM John Chapter 3

(message bible version)  1-2 There was a man of the Pharisee sect, Nicodemus, a prominent leader among the Jews. Late one night he visited Jesus and said, “Rabbi, we all know you’re a teacher straight from God. No one could do all the God-pointing, God-revealing acts you do if God weren’t in on it.”

3Jesus said, “You’re absolutely right. Take it from me: Unless a person is born from above, it’s not possible to see what I’m pointing to-to God’s kingdom.”

4“How can anyone,” said Nicodemus, “be born who has already been born and grown up? You can’t re-enter your mother’s womb and be born again. What are you saying with this ‘born-from-above’ talk?”

5-6Jesus said, “You’re not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation-the ‘wind-hovering-over-the-water’ creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life-it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom. When you look at a baby, it’s just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can’t see and touch-the Spirit-and becomes a living spirit.

7-8“So don’t be so surprised when I tell you that you have to be ‘born from above’-out of this world, so to speak.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
I talk about taking a group of teenagers up to Tacoma for a Christian Rock Concert.  The group playing was the Darrell Mansfield Band.

darrell_copy

Our experience was pretty wild, you have to listen.   We popped in a cassette tape of Twisted Sister and jammed all the way up to Tacoma in our van rented from Whitney’s in Montesano.

I play some clips from Darrell Mansfield and talk about the impact he and his band had on my life.  God got my attention.  I thought church was boring and dull, until I heard Darrell and his band.

web20darrell20with20bike

Darrell talked about what Heaven and Hell were like according to the Bible.  He talked about one of my favorite artists, Ronnie James Dio and how he really wasn’t an authority on what hell was really like.  I sat there stunned, cause he wasn’t ranking on anyone, he was just telling the truth.

d1emailla2

He shared about his life and how he had given himself to God.  It was amazing.  My heart beat like it was coming out of my chest!  Geez!  It was very amazing.

Finally I play a song by Darrell called “He has overcome.”  After that I talk about how it impacted my life.

I think God is closer to all of us than we think he is.  He is waiting for us to acknowlege him.

Next week I talk about what happened on the ride home in the van.  The kids I had taken to the concert had a lot to talk about, as well as I did.  My life had been changed and so had a bunch of theirs.  I call it  “We’re not gonna take it” aka “The ride home.”

I wrap up the podcast with a quick prayer for you and a couple of promos for my friend Kenny and Jen’s podcast.

I hope you have been enjoying Take Him With You, please email me comments, audio or emails to rick@takehimwithyou.com   I would love to play them on the show and get your feedback.  We are attempting to podcast full time and support our family.  So sign up for the newsletter and drop us bit of moola to keep it coming each week to you!  Our goal is to encourage you!

TELL A FRIEND!  Get them to listen, remember the philosophy of Take Him With You is that ANYONE, religious or not, can download the podcast and take it with them!  People who don’t go to church can relate and be encouraged.  And that is the goal. To talk about spiritual stuff without being stuffy and religious!  Woo hoo!

A huge thank you to all that have sent in contributions to take him with you, they are much appreciated.  Please be praying with us as we continue on in the very exciting adventure!

See you next week!

Love,
