We talked about how funny he was, much better than before, but then after we had recorded I thought that he had some shows that weren’t so good.  I say on the podcast that I have really been liking his show, but if it keeps going like this, I may change my opinion!  Go figure!

We also talk about playing cribbage together.  He was winning, and then I started beating him!  We will see who will reign supreme!

I talk about Star Trek Boldly part two the audio drama and play some music from it.  Check it out here:

WORDS OF WISDOM

Romans 12: (new living translation)

9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection,[e] and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.[f] 12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

17 Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18 Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,

   “I will take revenge;
      I will pay them back,”[g]
      says the Lord.

 20 Instead,

“If your enemies are hungry, feed them.
If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap
burning coals of shame on their heads.”[h]

21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

I then play the promo for the new Star Trek Audio Drama called STAR TREK: BOLDLY part two.   http://www.takehimwithyou.com/boldly2  email me for more information.  rick@takehimwithyou.com

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
This week’s subject is all about Anger and how it effects us, it can even cause depression.

I talk about how I struggled with depression for the first time in my life and needed help getting out.  I went to a Christian counselor that helped me through introducing me to a program called Celebrate Recovery.

We discuss chemical, spiritual and physical reasons that we might be in depression.

I then talk about dealing with Anger from the book  “In Pursuit of Happiness- choices that can change your life” by Frank Minirth, M.D.  Click here if you want to get a copy
415yd84qf8l__sl500_aa240_

We talk in depth about why we get angry and how it can effect us.  Take a listen.

I ask questions like “Why do bad things happen to good people?”

Some causes of Anger:
circumstances beyond our control
death or loss
Feeling stuck or manipulated
Being taken advantage of
Prolonged frustration

Anger does really strange things to us.  It causes us to do things we wouldn’t normally do.

Anger can come down through our family lines.  We learn it though example.  We can change the way we do things though.

God is the only one that can change us.  He can help us get to the root of what is causing us to be frustrated and angry.

Resloving anger:

I discuss the power of:
Forgiveness
Sharing with a wise friend or counselor
Writing a letter to get your thoughts out
Find something to focus on to get out of our anger- chop wood, lift weights, play basketball, etc.
Of course the biggest one that I reccomend is Spiritual help- crying out to God for help.  Let him avenge us.
God knows what is best, we don’t.  We have to trust that He has it under control.
Try changing our behavior.  Don’t get around stuff that makes us angry.
Sometimes it is important to see a doctor and talk about medication for anger.

I end up playing a cool song I wrote a couple of years ago called “Lead me on”
here are the lyrics
LEAD ME ON by Rick Moyer

Well the pressure seems to bring me down
and my soul cries out to hear the sound
of your voice it whispers softly in my ear

You gently speak my name outloud
clearly seperate from the crowd
You take my hand and calm me from my fears

Won’t you lead me on Jesus,
Won’t you lead me on oh Lord
Won’t you lead me on Jesus,
Won’t you lead me on oh Lord
Won’t you lead me on

You cleanse me from my wretched sin
you opened up my heart again
to the comfort of your love I’ve come to know
I bow my heart and knee to you
the one that purifies me true
I honor you with all that’s in my soul

Won’t you lead me on Jesus,
Won’t you lead me on oh Lord
Won’t you lead me on Jesus,
Won’t you lead me on oh Lord
Won’t you lead me on

Rain down on me.

You can directly download the song here

I then end up praying for you and introduce next week’s topic–  Messing with Stressing.  How to reduce the stress in our lives by faith in God.

Happy Father’s day to you dads out there.  I love my dad and wrote a cool song for him years ago, here it is!  Enjoy!
http://www.takehimwithyou.com/podcast/thankyoudad.mp3

My dad and I in Seattle.

Here are the lyrics to Thank you Dad by Rick Moyer

Daddy I remember in the cold you’d build a fire
and I do recall the warmth it gave to us all
and Daddy I can see you playing frisbee, outside our house
your baseball cap on backwards as always you were trying to make me laugh

I remember you and all the crazy things you’d do
In the summer time and in the spring
I thank you dad for the love you bring

Pullin weeds from the garden’
on a warm summers day
sharin’ my thoughts on the world around me
you’d listen and then we’d play

the little red truck the bbq
the swing outside in the yard
throwin apples to the horses
somehow those times they don’t seem so hard

I remember you and all the crazy things you’d do
In the summer time and in the spring
I thank you dad for the love you bring
I thank you dad for the love you bring

Now with a son of my own, I pray to the Lord above
that I may show him your example and give him your kinda  love

I remember you and all the crazy things you’d do
In the summer time and in the spring
I thank you dad for the love you bring

yeah I thank you Lord for the love you give.

WORDS OF WISDOM
Ephesians 6:1-4 (message bible)
1-3 Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. “Honor your father and mother” is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it, namely, “so you will live well and have a long life.” 4Fathers, don’t exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.

Psalm 68:1-10 (message bible)
1-4 Up with God! Down with his enemies!
         Adversaries, run for the hills!
Gone like a puff of smoke,
like a blob of wax in the fire—
one look at God and the wicked vanish.
When the righteous see God in action
      they’ll laugh, they’ll sing,
they’ll laugh and sing for joy.
   Sing hymns to God;
      all heaven, sing out;
clear the way for the coming of Cloud-Rider.
   Enjoy God,
      cheer when you see him!

 5-6 Father of orphans,
      champion of widows,
is God in his holy house.
God makes homes for the homeless,
      leads prisoners to freedom,
but leaves rebels to rot in hell.

7-10 God, when you took the lead with your people,
when you marched out into the wild,
   Earth shook, sky broke out in a sweat;
      God was on the march.
Even Sinai trembled at the sight of God on the move,
at the sight of Israel’s God.
   You pour out rain in buckets, O God;
thorn and cactus become an oasis
For your people to camp in and enjoy.
      You set them up in business;
they went from rags to riches.

Don’t forget to catch the midweek booster- we are going through the book of James.

WORDS OF WISDOM

James 3
13 If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. 15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.

17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

I then ask for help in supporting the podcast and share the statistics of last month.  Want to help?  visit http://www.takehimwithyou.com and click on donate, or subscribe to our newsletter.  Thanks!  We love feedback email us please!  rick@takehimwithyou.com

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I then talk about the subject of surviving churchianity- a very important conversation is had with Jen and Dave from Texas.  They share their heart concerning being hurt in church, and how that has effected their relationship with God.   Together we talk about how important it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus.  Then we talk about sharing our faith in the workplace and what it means to us.

Church may be a place we go to on a Sunday morning, but just because you go to church doesn’t make you a believer in Christ.  Come listen to what Amy and I, and our friends think about serving God.

I then play a song I wrote called “Take Me Higher”  you can download it here

You take me higher
by Rick Moyer
Faith is like climbing a mountain
I  never know what’s up there till I  climb
step after step I go on, give it my best try
You take me higher than I’ve ever been before
Faith is like swimming in the ocean
I never know how far I can travel
Stroke after stroke you keep me high and dry
You take me higher than I’ve ever been before
Faith is like flying through the air waves
Reaching the outer atmosphere
farther and farther you pull me up with you
If I only believe in you.
You take me higher than I’ve ever been before

It’s the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of unseen.
You take me higher than I’ve ever been before

Next week:  Destroying Depression –  Have you or anyone else you know ever suffered from Depression?  Find out by taking a simple little test and then listening to some great information about overcoming depression biblically.  Good stuff!

RICK’S HOUSE

Never a dull moment at our house. 🙂  It’s hard to keep things quiet to record the podcast!

We would love some feedback if you feel so led!  rick@takehimwithyou.com   we would really appreciate that.

Our goal is to encourage you and many others each week through the podcast and newsletter.

I’ve been enjoying my Canon Rebel XTi.  My friend Mike loaned me a cool Macro lens.  Check out some of the pics I have taken lately:

Better yet, come on over to my facebook account and check out my photos.  Here is a youtube video of our Joseph Coat Rose bush.

Ever had to fight discouragement?

Here are a few ways I fight it:
1.  Don’t judge your feelings, deal with them wisely.
2.  Listen to something uplifting like cool worship music.
4.  Call a friend and talk.
5.  Go bless someone who needs something.  Encourage someone else.
6.  Count ten things you are thankful for BEFORE getting out of bed in the morning.

Those things really help.

I got a new gadget called a NETBOOK.  Check out my review here on Youtube:

I play the Treks In Sci Fi Podcast promo with Rico Dostie.  This week Meds from England talks about the cool show “The prisoner”  Check it out at http://www.treksinscifi.com

WORDS OF WISDOM
Hebrews 10 (Message)

19-21So, friends, we can now—without hesitation—walk right up to God, into “the Holy Place.” Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice, acting as our priest before God. The “curtain” into God’s presence is his body.

22-25So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.

26-31If we give up and turn our backs on all we’ve learned, all we’ve been given, all the truthwe now know, we repudiate Christ’s sacrifice and are left on our own to face the Judgment—and a mighty fierce judgment it will be! If the penalty for breaking the law of Moses is physical death, what do you think will happen if you turn on God’s Son, spit on the sacrifice that made you whole, and insult this most gracious Spirit? This is no light matter. God has warned us that he’ll hold us to account and make us pay. He was quite explicit: “Vengeance is mine, and I won’t overlook a thing” and “God will judge his people.” Nobody’sgetting by with anything, believe me.

32-39Remember those early days after you first saw the light? Those were the hard times! Kicked around in public, targets of every kind of abuse—some days it was you, other days your friends. If some friends went to prison, you stuck by them. If some enemies broke in and seized your goods, you let them go with a smile, knowing they couldn’t touch your real treasure. Nothing they did bothered you, nothing set you back. So don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It’s still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion.

   It won’t be long now, he’s on the way;
he’ll show up most any minute.
   But anyone who is right with me thrives on loyal trust;
if he cuts and runs, I won’t be very happy.
But we’re not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We’ll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.

I play a promo for my friend’s podcast Waffleon.  http://waffleon.podbean.com

I then ask if you would consider supporting Amy and I in reaching all around the world with a message of hope.  We offer a weekly newsletter for only $20 a month, and give you opportunity to donate to the podcast if you feel led.  We had over 7000 visitors to the website in the month of May.  Over 1000 downloads of the programs in May.  More and more are listening and being encouraged.   If everyone that listened gave a little we would have more than enough to keep the podcast coming to you each week.  THANKS!  Visit http://www.takehimwithyou.com for more information.  Click on Donate, or on Newsletter.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

This week Amy and I interview Jen and Dave from Texas.  They share how they came to know God and what it was like to grow up in church.  Then we discuss the pros and cons of the modern day church and how it effects our relationship with Jesus.  It’s worth a listen.   The goal of the podcast this week is to discuss the good and bad experiences we have had in church.  Maybe we could all learn more about how to treat people and love God at the same time!

Please let us know what you think!  rick@takehimwithyou.com

Direct download of this weeks podcast is here:  http://www.takehimwithyou.com/podcast/060709surviving.mp3

Next week we will have part two of the interview with Dave and Jen!  It rocks, and you will love it!  Send your comments in and I will read them on the cast!  Better yet, send me some audio comments.  rick@takehimwithyou.com

I want to thank Dave and Jen for being  guests on the program.  Amy and I appreciated their honesty and openness.
